Mbappe’s dilemma: stay with PSG or seek a new challenge?
The French star Kylian Mbappe is facing a difficult decision about his future, as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June 2022. The 25-year-old has not yet renewed his deal with the French champions, despite the club’s efforts to convince him to stay.
Mbappe, who joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, has been one of the best players in the world in recent years, winning three Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups, and reaching the Champions League final in 2020. He has also won the World Cup with France in 2018 and was the runner-up in 2022.
However, Mbappe has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, the Spanish giants who have been chasing him for a long time. Mbappe has reportedly expressed his desire to join the Madrid club, where he could play alongside his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has been adamant that Mbappe will not leave the club, either for free or for a fee. He has said that he has a “respectful agreement” with Mbappe, but he has not revealed the details of it. He has also said that Mbappe is the “foundation of the team” and that the era of stars is over.
PSG have tried to persuade Mbappe to stay by signing some of the best players in the world this summer, such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Achraf Hakimi. They have also given him the captain’s armband and the number 10 shirt, which was previously worn by Neymar.
However, Mbappe has not yet committed his future to PSG, and he has said that he has not made his final decision yet. He has also said that he wants to play in a competitive league, and that he is not satisfied with dominating the French league.
